i did a completely different ride today by riding to Fremantle (backwards) around the east side of the river from Canning Bridge and then back up the beach to Swanbourne, before riding around the river through Dalkeith and Nedlands back to UWA then to the city and home via leederville. Overall the loop was 55km.
It wasnt the fastest ride in the world, but it was steady. I got held up near Fremantle (long enough to take the photos below) by some heavy loads crossing the Fremantle Bridge and then near the beach by a goods train which seemed to take an age to cross through the road.
While i was standing around here a young female triathlete rode up next to me. She dragged me up the coast until we got to Cottesloe where she promptly rode away from me. Oh well it was nice while it lasted.
I have now completed 2865km.
This is the Fremantle Port from the new Fremantle Bridge (the old one is in the foreground).

this is the North Fremantle rdevelopment - between the two bridges

this is looking back up the river towards East Fremantle (i had come from this direction)
